The Graduate Research Meet (GRM) is the first PhD student-led research event organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), IIT Palakkad, with support from the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). This three-day event aspires to bring together researchers from varied disciplines across the country to share their works and thoughts.
With a wide range of themes spanning Economics, English, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology, the Graduate Research Meet aims to foster the spirit of collaboration that cuts across disciplinary boundaries to engage in meaningful dialogues and to open a space for emerging voices in research. This would also serve as an arena to receive constructive feedback, build academic networks and gain exposure to diverse approaches in humanities and social sciences research.
The Humanities and Social Sciences at Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad fosters active communication across disciplines by connecting science and technology, with the humanities. For undergraduate students, our courses are not just add-ons, but they embed technical learning within ethical, social, and cultural contexts, catering to the holistic development of students’ perspectives. On the research side, the department offers PhD programmes in Cultural Studies, Economics, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. These programmes invite critical engagement with pressing questions of society, identity, and knowledge, thereby creating space for inquiry that is creative and transformative. HSS at IIT Palakkad, is therefore. a meeting ground of some of the most meaningful conversations!
